Lime-Pepper Tofu

Instead of the traditional lemon-pepper combo to flavor your protein…try limes!

Lime-Pepper Tofu

juice from 2 limes
1 tablespoon black pepper
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon Tamari
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
1 package of extra firm tofu
vegetable or canola oil for frying

*Drain and press tofu (see post for guava-jalapeno glazed tofu for more explicit instructions on draining and pressing tofu).

*Whisk all ingredients except for tofu and vegetable/canola oil. Add to shallow baking dish.

*Lightly fry pressed tofu in grill pan with a bit of vegetable or canola oil. Add pressed tofu to marinade. Marinate 30-60 minutes.

*Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake tofu (in marinade) for 15-20 minutes (uncovered). Flip once.

  2. It was yummy! (We ate it with the coconut-cilantro couscous…very nice combo!) 😀

  3. The lime and chili flakes sound great! I love adding big flavors like this to tofu.

  4. Thanks Lisa! You kinda have to go big with tofu, otherwise it just tastes like fluffy egg white! 🙂
