It should come as no surprise to Como Water readers that I have become ‘pop’ obsessed this summer. I have posted numerous ice pops and if you can believe it, I actually haven’t posted half of the recipes I’ve created (like Orange Hazelnut and Watermelon Arnold Palmer. Mmmm.).
Well folks, I’ve got a new treat for ya! POPCORN! Oh, yes… I couldn’t abandon my ‘pop’ theme just yet… but instead of continuing to inundate you with ice pops, I thought I’d mix it up a bit. Enter this salted Nutella popcorn as an introduction into my flavored popcorn extravaganza! I’ll be posting lots more (along with techniques), but for now, I leave you with this salty-sweet piece of heaven (um, yes, that I made … and ate… two days in a row!).
A quick note about this popcorn–it should be consumed immediately after making. Unlike other chocolate that will harden when cool, the Nutella will stay soft and then it will get gooey after a day or so, which is just, well, no bueno.
Ok, that’s all for now! Happy Thursday everyone!
Salted Nutella Popcorn
3 tablespoons coconut oil
1/3 cup unpopped popcorn kernels
1/4 cup Nutella
1/4 teaspoon salt
*Pop popcorn with coconut oil according to the manufacturer’s instructions (I use a Whirley Pop). As soon as the corn is popped, set aside (keep inside the popcorn maker). Immediately microwave Nutella for 30 seconds. Add popped corn to a large bowl along with the melted Nutella. Mix completely. Sprinkle salt. Mix. ENJOY!
